closeBob Stei is the dynamic and passionate host of “The Grunge Garage,” a radio show that celebrates the iconic sounds of 1990s Britpop and Grunge. His journey in the world of radio began as an intern at WNEW-FM in New York while he was a student at Manhattan College. Over the years, Bob has honed his skills both on and off the air, working at various radio stations. Currently, he cyber tracks mornings on KKDJ Fresno and evenings at KBSZ Phoenix. “The Grunge Garage” stands out for its deep dive into the music revolution of the 1990s, featuring legendary artists such as Blur, Oasis, Live, Pearl Jam, STP, Offspring, Bush, and Hole. A unique segment of his show, “Mandatory Morrissey,” dedicates a song each hour to the renowned artist Morrissey. Bob’s show is known for its authenticity and engaging content, appealing to fans who grew up in the era of 90s music. The show was born out of Bob’s long-standing desire to host a program that resonated with his personal music preferences. He initiated “The Grunge Garage” during the pandemic, leveraging the opportunity presented by a break in his regular radio gigs. The show has since gained significant popularity, being syndicated globally and aired on over 30 affiliates in more than eight countries. Bob’s enthusiasm for 90s music is evident when he recalls the impact of bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam during his college radio days, highlighting a period when it became ‘cool to listen to new music again.’
closeRhett started his broadcast career in Jackson Tennessee at WKBJ AM (Milan) as a board op on Saturday AM drive, and engineer for Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 on Sundays. Within 2 months he was “Promoted” to overnights on the am jams sister FM station “The Nu 92 FM” WYNU. He moved back to Memphis keeping his overnight gig and picked up Weekend overnights at Rock 103 WZXR. HE considers his first “Big Time” gig in the Biz as the first job that made him move and accept; 99.5 KRIX Brownsville TX. He also began working in the Rio Grande Valleys high-energy dance Station KRGV/KRGE as the “Z-Man”. When he moved to the Monterey Bay Area in California he was again in the right place at the right time, because the local classical radio station flipped from KBACH(KBOQ) to K-ROCK 103.9KRQC, where he landed his first F/T Morning Drive shift and kept it while commuting to the University of the Pacific in Stockton. It was at UOP he met Darren McGavin, Ralph Guild, and Jon Crabbe (all UOP Alums), as they recognized his commercial broadcasting experience as well as a natural real-world business style, they handed him the task of building a new campus radio station of, by, and for the students. He built KPAC – ” The Runaway Radio Station” that is now currently “The Roar of the Pacific” and the next semester created KPAC-TV as well.
closeBorn in, but finally moved out of, the state of Maryland, DJ_SquigY0 started his Internet DJing career back in the late 90s by setting up his own server, inviting his friends to listen, then DJing for only about 2 minutes because nobody would tune in. In 2004, he got the opportunity to actually have listeners when he signed on as a regular DJ in the Lipstick FM community. Due to internal conflict, that site disbanded in 2005, and Squig continued DJing at one of the break-off sites, Ch00ns until truly finding his real home in 2006 at PARTY FM. His home evicted him in 2017, and so you'll find him on dark dodgy corners of the Internet doing shows & podcasts.
